'Non-osmotic theory' for active absorption of water was proposed by
Text solutionVerified
There are two types of water absorption mechanism i.e., active and passive absorption. Active absorption can be osmotic or non-osmotic. The active non-osmotic theory was given by Thimann (1951) and Kramer (1959). According to this theory, sometimes water is absorbed against the concentration gradient and requires lots of energy released from respiration of root cells.
