What do science, religion and art have in common?

Science, religion and art have some similarities. Natural science is concerned with modeling the world around us. Science has two subdivisions - natural science and pure science. Natural science set up assumptions and test those assumptions to make predictions, while pure science is concerned with the abstract frameworks of assumptions. Religion tries to make sense of the world around us, both seen and unseen. It has a framework of basic assumptions, which are called beliefs. The common goals of religion include trying to understand the reason behind why things are based on basic assumptions. Adapting the ways of interaction with the world based on the knowledge gained is another common goal of religion. Art, on the other hand, looks at the world through different eyes, avoiding taking things for granted. This is similar in the way that science requires divergent thinking for innovation and religion requires faith. For instance, Einstein's theory of special relativity was possible because he let go of conventional intuitions and only held on to the idea that light travels with constant speed regardless of the frame of reference, while Bach's music carries a great deal of subjective appeal despite having an astonishing structural form.
