For what reasons were farmers angry at railroad companies?

Farmers were angry at railroad companies for several reasons, one of which was land seizures. After the Civil War, there was a need to build a transcontinental railroad that would stretch from the Mississippi River to San Francisco. The US Government engaged in land seizures, which is the government's power to take private property for public use, to help expedite the construction. The railroads were given the right to take farmers’ land for the track, which often split up their open ranges. This resulted in the loss of the farmer's property for less than what it was worth, and many times the farmers did not even want to sell their lands. This is why farmers were angry at railroad companies.
