Where is a hotspot in the US?

The hotspot being referred to in this solution is an area where the earth’s crust is unusually hot and molten rock (magma) rises to the surface. One of the most well-known hotspots in the US is the Yellowstone Hotspot, which is located in Yellowstone National Park. Over millions of years, as the North American plate has moved, the hotspot stayed in the same position on the planet, but moved easterly from our perspective.
