A mountain belt is a region consisting of a chain of mountains. It typically includes multiple mountains extending across a vast area. For example, the Andes and the Himalayas are two famous examples of mountain belts on Earth. The Andes, a 7,000 km range of mountains, stretches along the entire western coast of South America from Venezuela to Chile, whereas the Himalayas, a 2,400 km long range, stretches from Afghanistan to Bhutan. Interestingly, the Himalayas are visible from space and its highest peak, Mount Everest, stands at an elevation of 8,848 meters.
