Step by Step Solution: Step 1. Determine the significant figures in the given measurement. Step 2. Take note of the number in the last significant figure. Step 3. Identify the first non-zero digit from the leftmost digit of the number. Step 4. Count the number of significant figures between the first digit and the last digit with a nonzero value. Step 5. If the last significant figure is greater than or equal to 5, round up the last significant digit. If it is less than 5, simply drop the digits beyond the last significant figure. Step 6. If the measurement is in a graduated cylinder or any other equipment with a meniscus, make sure to read the value at the bottom of the curve.
