Question
Question asked by Filo student
The virus responsible for MERS in the Middle East demonstrates what type of pattern of viral origins? Viruses can form de novo from portions of the genome that are able to copy themselves within a genome (transposons). Viruses may speciate along with their hosts, resulting in viruses that are highly species-specific. Viruses may interact with bacterial genomes, resulting in new genes being added to the viral genome, allowing them to infect new host species. Viruses that live in one host may have mutations that allow them to invade another species.
