Question
Question asked by Filo student
Most staph infections are evident on the skin and are localized to boils or injection/incision sites. When the infection overcomes the barriers provided by the anatomy and immune system and becomes systemic, a condition called septicemia occurs. Bacteria can be detected in the blood, a condition known as bacteremia, which leads to a systemic inflammatory reaction that can rapidly lead to septic shock due to low blood pressure and organ failure due to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
