Question
Question asked by Filo student
I'm having a difficult time understanding radioactive decay. My textbook seems to want to use the terms "element" and "atoms" interchangeably. I understand that during carbon dating, Carbon-14 slowly becomes Carbon-12. But is Carbon-14 losing neutrons and becoming Carbon-12, or is Carbon-14 decaying from the dead organism and decreasing in number compared to the amount of Carbon-12? Thank you in advance.
