As a behavioral anthropologist, you are interested in determining whether or not pregnant mothers who play music for their developing child in utero can stimulate higher intelligence in that child. There have been some anecdotal suggestions, but no definitive scientific conclusions, that have linked music exposure in utero with higher intelligence after birth. Hypothesis: The hypothesis for this study is that pregnant mothers who play music for their developing child in utero will stimulate higher intelligence in that child compared to pregnant mothers who do not play music. Control group: The control group in this study will consist of pregnant mothers who do not play music for their developing child in utero. Experimental group: The experimental group in this study will consist of pregnant mothers who play music for their developing child in utero. Independent variable: The independent variable in this study is the exposure to music in utero. It is manipulated by whether or not the pregnant mothers play music for their developing child. Dependent variable: The dependent variable in this study is the intelligence of the child after birth. It is measured and compared between the control and experimental groups. Possible outcomes: The possible outcomes of this study include finding a significant difference in intelligence between the control and experimental groups, indicating that music exposure in utero can stimulate higher intelligence. Alternatively, the study may find no significant difference, suggesting that music exposure in utero does not have an impact on intelligence.
