Exocrine glands secrete products into tubes that carry them into body cavities, into the lumen of organs or distribute them over body surfaces. Salivary glands discharge into the oral cavity and sweat glands and sudoriferous glands discharge their secretions over the epidermal surface. Endocrine glands secrete their hormones into interstitial fluid around glands. The hormones diffuse from the interstitial fluid into blood capillaries , and the blood stream carries the hormones to the target organs. Adrenal catecholamines hormones(neurotransmitters) and pituitary hormones are distributed in this way.
