"Ocean: This is the evidence you are presented with about the 3 subtypes: of 15-35, diet is fish and squid, inhabit British Columbia and Washington waters, and females have rounded dorsal fins with sharp corners. 2 6, diet is other marine mammals, inhabit southern Alaska and California waters, and females have triangular dorsal fins. Body size is large: Offshore: Live in pods of 20-75, diet is schooling fish, sharks, and mammals; inhabit west coast of Vancouver Island waters, and genetically distinct from other two groups Resident/Biggs: 99% similar. Resident/Offshore: 92% similar. Bigg/Offshore: 92% similar. Comparison of eye lens gene from Uniprot: similarity KILLER WHALES. You form a preliminary hypothesis that these three populations represent 3 different species. Part 1: What specific features/aspects would you examine to test your hypothesis that these orcas have undergone speciation? Utilize at least two species concepts/definitions and how you would test them/what further information you would collect in your response: (16 pts) Part 2: Build a phylogenetic tree to hypothesize overall the molecular, morphological, and biogeographical data provided, making sure to use 3-4 chosen traits before building your tree; (16 pts) Provide our scoring label (with Os and 1s assigned to each trait chosen) (5 pts) Provide tree with all subtypes and at least 3-4 traits: (6 pts) Explain how you built your tree and critique what is parsimonious about it?
