Whether homolatic or alcoholic fermentation regenerate sufficient NAD + to support glycerol to pyruvate conversion pathway. Concept introduction: Glycerol enters to glycolytic pathway in the metabolism of fructose that occurs in liver. Fructose enters to the liver in form of fructose-1-phosphate. Fructose-1-phospahte then undergoes aldolase reaction in the presence of fructose-1-phosphate aldolase forms glyceraldehydes and dihydroxy-acetone phosphate (DHAP). Glyceraldehyde undergoes dehydrogenation process in the presence of alcohol dehydrogenase forms glycerol.
