The impact on the phenotype of common wall cress ( Arabidopsis thaliana ) as a result of a mutation that causes excess auxin production. Concept introduction: Mutation is a permanent variation of some nucleotide sequences in the genome of an organism that may result in deviation from normal phenotypic features. Each and every character of a plant is encoded by specific genes. Phytohormones produced by the plants can also undergo mutations in the nucleotide sequences of the respective genes. Such deviations in the normal nucleotide constitution always affect the normal features and functions of the hormones.
