  2. Proteins may perform almost any function, assuming a wide range of structures. The central feature is that they engage in multi-prong interactions, forming a complex.
  3. Polypeptide is a polymer of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. It is synthesized by ribosomes according to mRNA codes.
  4. Enzymes catalyze reactions, such as alcohol dehydrogenase.
  5. Proteins also have structural functions, acting as a matrix or skeleton.
  6. They can act as gene regulators, transporters, transcription factors, hormones, and form pores.
