16 Terrestrials planets and giant planets have different compositions because... a.terrestrial planets are closer to the Sun. b.terrestrial planets have few moons. C. giant planets are mostly made of solids dgiants planets are much larger. 17Clumps grow into planetesimals by a. gravitationally pulling in other dumps. b. colliding with other clumps. C. attracting other clumps with opposite charge d.Both a and c. e. All of the above. 18) if two or more planets were to exist in the same orbit around our Sun,what would most likely eventually happen? a. They would continue to orbit the Sun as they are and never interact with one another b. They would eventually collide with one another. C. They would eventually crash into the Sun due to loss in rotational energy. d. They would gravitationally fling one another out of orbit and into another orbit. e. All but one planet would eventually fall out of orbit and into their own orbit peacefully 19) Why are Jovian planets much larger than terrestrial planets? a. Because they are colder,so have not collapsed on itself yet b. This has not fully been explained yet with current scientific data, so no reasonable answer can be given yet Because there are fewer number of Jovian planets,so they must have combined more in their formation than did terrestrial planets d. Because they formed earlier in the process, and thus had more time to collect gas and dust to grow in size Because they are made of more abundant materials than terrestrial planets 20) With the abundance of material in the solar nebula as our solar system was taking shape, what is the main reason only 8planets formed? a. All 8 planets took all the material in the solar nebula b. Jupiter took most of the material in its formation C. Solar wind blew away excess material d. The Sun took up most of the material, leaving only enough to forrn 8 planets e. During formation, the planetesimals flung excess material out into the Oort cloud, leaving little left for formation of more planets

Texts: Read the following passage then match the sentence or sentence fragments with the element of the experimental design chosen to test the hypothesis. Choose the best answer. A biologist notes that frogs from several ponds in the upper midwestern USA have more than two hind limbs, also known as polydactyly. After dissection, the scientist finds parasitic flatworms in the frogs' tissues. The scientist thinks that perhaps the parasite is causing the frogs to grow extra legs during development. If parasites are causing polydactyly in the frogs, then the incidence of polydactyly is expected to be much greater in frogs reared with parasitic infections than frogs reared parasite-free. The scientist sets up two captive frog populations, and in only one does he infect the frogs with parasites so he can compare the number of frog offspring that have extra limbs in the two populations. The researcher ensures similar terrestrial and aquatic habitat parameters exist in the two captive populations, such as temperature, pressure, salinity, and feeding regime. After testing, the scientist observes that 90% of the offspring from the parasite-infected population develop additional limbs, whereas only 3% of offspring from the parasite-free population develop additional limbs. The scientist is now more confident that the parasite is somehow causing frogs to grow additional limbs.
