Ago - Ago is a protein that is part of the RISC complex. It functions to bind to small RNA molecules, such as microRNAs or small interfering RNAs. c. Then, perfect base pairing between an RNA molecule and a target mRNA stimulates cleavage of the target mRNA by Ago. This cleavage helps to regulate gene expression. d. The outcome of the processing of RISC is the degradation or silencing of the target mRNA, which ultimately leads to a decrease in the production of the corresponding protein.
