We all know that for a given volume of a liquid, a sphere has the least surface area. Also, the more the surface area of an object, the more is its surface energy.
Now, to remain in stable equilibrium, a body always tries to minimize its surface energy. Therefore it tries to reduce its surface area and hence acquires a spherical shape.
All this phenomena is because of the presence of surface tension of a fluid.

A spherical body of mass m and radius r is allowed to fall in a medium of viscosity . The time in which the velocity of the body increases from zero to times the terminal velocity(v) is called time constant(). Dimensionally, can be represented byQuestion 2
A thin plate of large area is placed midway in a gap of height filled with oil of viscosity and the plate is pulled at a constant velocity is then substituted in the gap, it is found that for the velocity , and the same drag force as previous case the plate is located unsymmetrically in the gap but parallel to the walls. The in terms of distance from nearer wall to the plane is . Find the value of x. Stuck on the question or explanation?
