First stone is thrown so as to reach the top of the tower, so its initial velocity is

Let us take the time , when the two stones meet at a height above the foot of the tower.
The first stone is travelled a height in the duration and the second stone has fallen a distance in time .
From speed equations, we have
For first stone
For second stone

Adding above two equation,

Thus height is given as
