Straight Lines

Write the first five terms of each of the following sequences whose $n_{th}$ terms are:$a_{n}=3n+2$

The $n_{th}$ term of the sequence is

$a_{n}=3n+2 ...................eq(1)$

1) for finding the first term of sequence $(a_{1})$ put n=1 in eq(1)

$a_{1}=3×1+2$

$⟹a_{1}=3+2$

$⟹a_{1}=5$

2) for finding the second term of sequence $(a_{2})$ put n=2 in eq(1)

$a_{2}=3×2+2$

$⟹a_{2}=6+2$

$⟹a_{2}=8$

3) for finding the third term of sequence $(a_{3})$ put n=3 in eq(1)

$a_{3}=3×3+2$

$⟹a_{3}=9+2$

$⟹a_{3}=11$

4) for finding the fourth term of sequence $(a_{4})$ put n=4 in eq(1)

$a_{4}=3×4+2$

$⟹a_{4}=12+2$

$⟹a_{4}=14$

5) for finding the fifth term of sequence $(a_{5})$ put n=5 in eq(1)

$a_{5}=3×5+2$

$⟹a_{5}=15+2$

$⟹a_{5}=17$
