Construction:
Join

EC

Since,

BC = A D = 6 m

and

A B = D C = 12 m

∴

E D = 5 m

△ E D C

By Pythagoras Theorem,

E C^{2} = E D^{2} + D C^{2}

∴

E C^{2} = 169

∴

EC = 13 m

Hence, Distance between their tops

= 13 m
