Materials which contains sufficient quantity of minerals so that metals can be extracted profitably 
Minerals are natural materials in which the metals or their compounds are found in earth.
The ore contains a good percentage of metal.
Some minerals may contain a large percentage of metal whereas others may contain only a small percentage of metals.
All ores are minerals.
Example: Zinc blende is an ore of zinc.
All minerals are not ores.
Example: Gypsum is a mineral from which calcium is extracted.
