Osmosis is the process of movement of water across a semipermeable membrane along the concentration gradient. Osmoscope is used to demonstrate the process of osmosis. Usually a potato osmoscope is used in which a sugar solution is placed inside a cavity carved out in a potato tuber, which is kept in water. After some time due to osmosis level of solution inside the cavity rises, because water from surrounding cells enter the cavity.

Question 1
Osmosis is the diffusion of solution of a weaker concentration, when both are separated by semi-permeable membrane. What is error in the statement?Question 2
Two semi-permeable bags containing 2% sucrose placed in two beakers, 'P' containing water and 'Q' containing 10% sucrose. Which one of the following outcomes is true?Question 4
A candidate in order to study the process of osmosis has taken 3 potato cubes and put them in 3 different beakers containing 3 different solutions. After 24 hours, in the first beaker the potato cube increased in size, in the second beaker the potato cube decreased in size and in the third beaker there was no change in the size of the potato cube. The following diagram shows the result of the same experiment:Give the technical terms of the solutions used in beakers, 1. 2 and 3.
