Cauliflory is the formation of flowers from new buds on old branches or sometimes on main woody stems. This adaptation has many advantages. The growing branches have many leaves rather than flowers to capture sunlight. The insects on the stem or near the ground can help in pollination. The fruit produced by such plants become easily accessible to animals which can not climb the trees. Animals help in seed dispersal of these plants.
